This text is an expanded and updated edition of the original 1974 volume. The prose is aimed at an undergraduate readership and is clear and concise. The subtitle of the book, however, gives a better idea of its contents than does the main title, as a significant proportion of the text is devoted to the development and description of sedimentation models of different depositional environments. Regarding the aspects of stratigraphy that could/should be discussed in an undergraduate text, I was somewhat disappointed.
