What should undergraduate tectonics students know about earthquakes? The thesis of Exercises in Active Tectonics is that they ought to have some familiarity with quantitative methods for determining earthquake size, location, repeat time, and effect on structures. While this manual is designed to complement Keller and Pinter's text, Active Tectonics: Earthquakes, Uplift, and Landscape, which was published in 1996, it could provide a laboratory component for a variety of introductory courses emphasizing tectonics, geomorphology, or seismology.
