Abstract

tiendo podrian beneficiarse varias revistas espanolas (entre l factor de impacto (FI), que mide la importancia de una publiacion cientifica, es calculado anualmente por el Instituto ara la Informacion Cientifica (Institute for Scientific Informaion [ISI], Thomson-Reuters) para aquellas publicaciones a las ue da seguimiento y que son recogidas en un informe de itas llamado Journal Citation Report (JCR). El FI para una deterinada publicacion en un ano concreto resulta de dividir el umero de veces que son citados los articulos publicados en icha revista durante los dos anos previos entre el numero e articulos que publico dicha revista durante ese mismo eriodo de tiempo. A pesar de su enorme influencia, el uso del I empieza a ser cuestionado, siendo controvertido si mide ealmente la calidad o tan solo la cantidad de las publicaiones. Ademas, como su periodo de calculo base para citas s muy corto, no tiene en cuenta que los articulos clasicos on citados mas frecuentemente que los originales, incluso ecadas despues de haber sido escritos. Finalmente, sus resulados no son comparables en distintas areas de investigacion; si por ejemplo, las publicaciones en Oncologia o Inmunoloia tienen un FI mas alto que las publicaciones pediatricas u ftalmologicas1. Para paliar este sesgo, Carl T. Bergstrom, experto en Bioloia de la Informacion y Metrica de la Informacion Cientifica en la niversidad de Washington (Seattle, EE.UU.), diseno en 2007 os nuevos indicadores: el eigenfactor y el article influence. Eigenactor es un indicador de la influencia o repercusion global e las revistas del JCR2. Aplica algoritmos de relevancia tipo ageRank de Google en el calculo iterativo del nivel de citacion ecibido por una revista segun dichas citas procedan a su vez e revistas mas o menos citadas, y mas o menos influyentes or tanto.
