Abstract The influence of process parameters of WEDM (wire electro discharge machining) on MRR of EN47 spring steel is examined in the present study. Taguchi methodology along with L27 orthogonal array is used to optimize the MRR by considering four process parameters i.e. Pulse-on time (Ton), Pulse-off time (Toff), Wire feed (WF)and gap voltage (V). The optimality (Ton3Toff1WF2V1) of the system for maximized MRR is determined in the present investigation. This study also describes significance and interactions of the process parameters by analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. The improvement in MRR at optimal condition compared to initial condition is 26%.
