Abstract

Resumen La coexistencia de hipertiroidismo con la gestacion no es un fenomeno excepcional. Cuando esto curre la repercusion es tanto materna como fetal e incluso, tras el parto, puede afectar al neonato y a la puerpera. El manejo clinico de esta situacion es radicalmente distinto al del hipertiroidismo de la no gestante y plantea importantes retos tanto desde el punto de vista diagnostico como terapeutico. En esta revision se examinan los aspectos relacionados con las peculiaridades de la valoracion bioquimica de la funcion tiroidea en el embarazo, las diferentes posibilidades etiologicas ante la aparicion de un hipertiroidismo en la gestacion y el enfoque clinico terapeutico en cada caso. Se dedica especial atencion a la gestacion complicada con una enfermedad de Graves diferenciando su repercusion a distintos niveles: materno, fetal, neonatal y puerperal.
