
Abstract To understand what has happened to a historic wooden object, it is important to understand the wood structure and the chemistry of the original wood as well as the structure and chemistry of the historic wood. With this information, it is possible to understand the degradation that has occurred over time. With this knowledge, it is also possible to describe a possible method of conservation and preservation.
