Abstract This study presents the new relaxation function describing the non-Debye relaxation phenomena. The relaxation function is based on a new theoretical model of the relaxation polarization. The non-Debye relaxation is explained with the model of nonlinear damped oscillator. It is shown that the relaxation function describes the relaxation spectra of the Davidson-Cole and Havriliak–Negami types as well as spectra with the left-skewed loss peak.
