The importance of /sup 99/Tc in the development of diagnostic nuclear medicine, over the past 30 yrs. is discussed. Tc-99 is the ideal radiotracer and since the introduction and development of the BNL /sup 99/Mo//sup 99/Tc Radioisotope Generator in the 1950's, and the development of /sup 99/Tc labelled compounds for thyroid, brain and bone-marrow imaging. The field of diagnostic nuclear medicine has grown exponentially.
