A group with ocular hypertension has been investigated longitudinally — compared with a normal group — for a period of 5 years. As result we can state, that there is no exact numeric border between the normal and the pathologic pressure of the eye. Single measurements of the intraocular pressure are not sufficient for a reliable and early diagnosis of glaucoma, additional criteria should be found.
