Monogenea from freshwater fishes

The Monogenea of the whole Oriental region are relatively poorly known. Yamaguti (1963) lists few species from the region. More recently some major contributions have been made to the systematics of Monogenea of freshwater fishes of Sri Lanka (Gussev 1963), India (Gussev 1976) and Malaysia (Lim 1979). The present account is a brief report on the Monogenea recorded from freshwater fishes in Sri Lanka.
