The concluding chapter re-addresses the situatedness of the research and book overall and offers an opening-conclusion explicitly acknowledging some of the limitations of the research and yet also supports ending on an opening as an affirmative position: that no research is finished and fixed, but an ongoing process of discovery, opening up new possibilities of becoming. The work builds on problems opened up with the previous chapters and moves towards materiality and the posthuman. Karen Barad’s discussion of agential realism and Rosi Braidotti’s of the posthuman offer a resolution to the previous chapter on the problem of indeterminacy and also questions that still move the author as they continue to move, think, breathe, and struggle with the material informing and related to this book. Becoming contemporary dancer is argued to open out into essential questions of ethics and power with kinaesthetia and visual self-reflection for the field.
