Abstract

Gingival enlargement is characterized by an increase in the volume of gingival tissues that can be aggravated by local factors. Many drugs are known to induce gingival overgrowth. Physiopathological mechanisms involved in this frequent complication have not yet been totally elucidated. Most often, this increase does not correspond to an increase in the number of fibroblasts or an increase in the volume of fibroblasts, however a tumoral process must systematically be investigated and ruled out.
