AbstractParenteral nutrition (PN) is an important therapeutic modality used for a variety of indications in adults, children, and infants. PN is a complex, high‐alert medication that requires appropriate education and ongoing competency assessment to ensure a safe process. PN is not recognized by many organizations as a medication, which leads to underreporting of errors. This article will provide important insight and recommendations to promote a safe PN process.
