There are many caloric tests; some are simple, some are complex. They vary in accuracy and in the amount of information obtainable. We are all familiar with most of these. There is no reason to discuss them at this time. The test described here is certainly not new (although I have not seen it in the literature) and is probably used by many of us. It is perhaps not the most accurate and certainly does not give all the information obtainable by some of the others. Its value lies in the ease of its performance, the little equipment used, the little time necessary in which to perform it, and, finally, the fact that it can be duplicated practically exactly each time that it is done.
