</script>This multiauthored volume is equally divided into chapters dealing with diseases of the peripheral cornea and neuro-ophthalmology. As with other volumes in this series, the chapters are brief, adequately illustrated, and selectively referenced. They are easily readable. Each of the 13 chapters dealing with the peripheral cornea takes up a specific disease entity. Their content and quality varies with the authorship. Most of the chapters are appropriate for an updated text, yet basic mechanisms are rarely discussed, and pathologic correlates are presented in only a few chapters. One might wish for more background information on corneal metabolism from the knowledgeable authors. Despite this reservation, the sections on corneal disease will provide valuable reading for clinicians. "The book warrants a good to excellent recommendation."
