Impact of selenium supplements on health of mammary gland in early lactation period

The period before parturition in high producing dairy cows is accompanied by increased demands for energy that can't be provided with food, and cows entering a negative energy balance, which leads to various metabolic disorders. Adding trace elements in cow' s food is achieved by improving the health of the cows. Selenium as a trace element has essential importance in the proper functioning of the mammary gland of cows. The values of the concentration of selenium in milk serum in high-producing dairy cows are 2-60 mg / l.
