CRITERIA AND LEVELS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADOLESCENTS’ EMOTIONAL CULTURE IN THE PROCESS OF MUSICAL-CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

Abstract

In the article, the criteria and levels of adolescents’ emotional culture development in the process of musical-creative activities are examined. Contemporary society is undergoing considerable and rapid transformations in the spheres of culture, communication, and education. Consequently, there is a pressing need for individuals who can swiftly adapt to new conditions, employ creativity, and demonstrate emotional maturity. Musical-creative activities can harmonize the inner world of adolescents, fostering the development of empathy, self-regulation, and creative self-expression, and therefore serve as one of the most significant factors in shaping emotional culture. To evaluate the level of development of adolescents’ emotional culture in the process of musical and creative activities, it is necessary to identify certain criteria and levels. The article presents the key criteria and levels based on the findings of Western researchers. Emotional culture in the context of emotional intelligence encompasses not only an adolescent’s ability to navigate their own emotional states but also their capacity for empathy, constructive communication, and maintaining healthy relationships. Emotional culture is a crucial component of their personal maturity and social functioning. It is shaped by the acquired skills of emotional intelligence and is determined by how consciously and appropriately the adolescent responds to themselves and the world around them.
