Synthesis of L-2-amino-8-oxodecanoic acid: an amino acid component of apicidins

Abstract
The synthesis Of L-2-amino-8-oxodecanoic acid (Aoda) is described. This is a rare amino acid component of apicidins, a family of new cyclic tetrapeptides, inhibitors of histone deacetylase.
