Abstract
This preliminary study investigates the risk for former victims of sexual or physical abuse to become a perpetrator of pedo-sexual abuse in their further lifetime. To explain this kind of biographical transition we deduce three hypotheses from theoretical models focussing on the distinctive psycho-social traits of sex offenders.These hypotheses point to the risk for becoming a victimizer when being a victim oneself. To verify our hypotheses we apply cox regression models comparing two groups of first-time convicted sex offenders: those beeing sex offenders and those beeing pedo-sexual offenders.
