The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) is rapidly increasing worldwide to the point that it is becoming a global health problem. The SM is known as a set of risk factors to health, including obesity (central obesity), insulin resistance (IR), dyslipidemia, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and hypertension. These alterations have been associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes type 2 (DM2) and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
