Abstract

Terkadang pekerjaan konstruksi memerlukan penggalian tanah dengan galian yang cukup dalam dan sisi galian vertikal atau tegak, contohnya basement dari gedung-gedung di daerah berkembang atau fasilitas transportasi bawah tanah. Permukaan vertikal dari galian memerlukan perlindungan dengan system pemasangan turap sementara untuk menghindari keruntuhan yang mungkin terjadi bersamaan dengan penurunan (settlement) atau keruntuhan daya dukung dari pondasi yang berada disekitarnya. Untuk menyangga tanah dengan kondisi seperti ini, pekerjaan konstruksi biasanya menggunakan braced cut atau galian berturap. Untuk mendesian galian berturap (antara lain, penyangga (wales), penumpu (struts), sheet piles, dan soldier beams), harus diestimasikan tekanan tanah lateral dimana galian berturap ini akan dibuat. VI - 6 Sampai saat ini metode yang sering digunakan untuk menghitung struktur galian berturap adalah metode coba-coba. Dengan metode coba-coba ini akan diperlukan waktu yang lama, terutama bagi mereka yang belum berpengalaman. Pada saat sekarang ini galian berturap semakin banyak dibutuhkan. Oleh karena itu sangatlah perlu untuk dikembangkan suatu program bantu guna mendapatkan hasil perhitungan struktur galian berturap secara mudah dan cepat. Dengan adanya program bantu ini akan sangat menghemat waktu dan tenaga yang dibutuhkan serta lebih efisien (karena segala perhitungan akan dilakukan oleh komputer) dan tentu saja akan menghasilkan tingkat akurasi atau ketelitian yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan perhitungan secara manual dengan metode coba-coba tersebut. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dibuatlah suatu program aplikasi Galian Berturap (Braced Cut) dengan menggunakan Visual Basic 6.0.
