Cotton rats (Sigmodon hispidus) infected with 50L3 of Angiostrongylus costaricensis
were treated with thiabendazole, levamisole and diethylcarbamazine;
the administration of the drugs was started 40 days after the
infection. Several trials were carried out, varying the dose and the duration
of the treatment.
In all of the cases, first stage larvae appeared 5-6 after treatment. In some
rats that died expontaneously, ectopically localized living parasites were observed.
All of the rats were sacrificed and the adult parasites were found alive.
