Abstract

The article deals with cognitive aspects of speech production in the transitive era of cultural code change: from Romanticism to the Enlightenment. Based on the epistemological idea by Humboldt the tendency to the recognition and identification of the natural language and national culture specifics was found to form as the coding system, recipient’s function, the organic coherence between the language and national culture and spiritual traditions. The analysis of H. von Kleist’s article «On the gradual production of thoughts whilst speaking» led to establishing the fact that romanticists acknowledged the complexity and significance of the cognitive aspects of communicants’ intentions verbalization. It also led to defining the fact that romanticists focused their attention on the study of individual’s knowledge structure, the mechanisms of speech production and text understanding, the role of the current rational activity.
