Abstract

A new approach is proposed to the teaching of the Russian language and literature to foreigners studying at pre-university training departments. A rationale is presented for the need to introduce qualitative changes in the literature course content at pre-university training departments for foreign students. An analysis is given of the Requirements for minimum contents and the level of training of students graduating from pre-university training departments and faculties for foreign students (branch standard), established by the Ministry of General and Vocational Education of the Russian Federation. Some ways for the optimization of the Requirements' content are proposed, with appropriate justification for linguistic, sociocultural, pedagogic, and psychological reasons
