Abstract

The paper gives the linguistic analysis of character of Napoleon in Zotov's historical prose. According to the concept of describing the person's character, which takes place in Kirov linguists' papers, the French Emperor's character is represented as unity of procedural and non-procedural characteristics. This concept allows to analyze the character of Napoleon as an active person and describe his appearance and temper. On the basis of investigation's materials we make conclusions about the way Zotov creates the character of the ruler and military leader. Analysis of the texts shows, that the author represents Napoleon impartially: there can be found positive and negative features as well. In whole, the character is represented in realistic manner with the elements of psychologism.
