Abstract

The article presents the immediate results of a prospective randomized clinical study of surgical treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease, low ejection fraction and moderate mitral regurgitation. Patients were randomized into 2 groups. Group 1 included 41 patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) combined with LV reconstruction, while Group 2 consisted of 45 patients who underwent isolated CABG. Hospital mortality in Group 1 was 2.4%, in Group 2–2.2%. Treating patients with CABG combined with LV reconstruction in case of Type I dysfunction of the left ventricle tends to reduce the degree of mitral regurgitation.
