Abstract

The article presents theoretical and methodological problems of studying the electoral process in Russia. Attention is drawn to the use of heuristic capabilities of classical sociological, social and psychological models of electoral behavior in explaining the electoral process in Russia. In author’s opinion with the help of Western sociological, social and psychological models it is rather difficult to fully explain the electoral process in our country. Therefore there is an urgent need to develop scientific basis and a sociological model of voting behavior, taking into account the specifics of the Russian regions.
