The content in the blood of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was studied. Decrease concentration of DHEAS in patients with COPD and the relationship between levels of the hormone with the severity of the disease was revealed. There is a correlation between the parameters of respiratory function, oxygen saturation of arterial blood concentration of DHEAS. Therapy of COPD patients with increased levels of DHEAS in the dynamics leads to greater improvement in lung function compared with patients without an increase in blood concentration of this hormone.
