Abstract

The article emphasizes the importance of spatial thinking formation for successful learning in primary schools. It justifies the approach to the formation of developmental programs of spatial thinking of elementary school pupils. In the program “Gradual development of spatial thinking of elementary school pupils” proposed by the author a systematic transformation of spatial thinking's components from ontogenetic fundamental functions (motion functions) into more complicated (intellectual functions) is carried out. The result of the implementation of the developmental program is the development of the components of spatial thinking of pupils and their progress in mastering of educational skills (writing, reading and calculation).
