This article is devoted to emergence and development of cinema on Don Region. Attention paid on the first picture theatres in Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Novocherkassk and their technical equipment (bioscope, biofonograf, teatrograf cosmography, vivantograf, fonohromoskopograf). Статья посвящена появлению и развитию кинематографа на Дону. Дается характеристика технических достижений, новинок техники («театрограф, вивантограф», фонохромоскопограф, «хрономегафон», кинетофон). История «электробиографов» представлена на материалах Ростова, Таганрога, Новочеркасска, в целом Области Войска Донского. Рассмотрены проблемы профессионального киносообщества, а также основные тенденции развития этой отрасли культурной жизни.
