Abstract

This article is a review of the literature data on the correlation between stress and the occurence of arterial hypertension (AH). There are considered the issues of historical development of the theory about neurogenic cause of AH, the mechanisms of blood pressure regulating and their characteristics during a stressful situation, the findings of the studies on the long-term hypertensive reactions in response to emotional stress. The data on types of stress-induced AH: «white coat» AH and «workplace» AH, are provided.
