Abstract

The work represents an original study of new materials and the fi rst special research and generalization of data available now on raw material strategies of the Middle Paleolithic Neanderthals in Northwestern Caucasus. The author analyzes the Middle Paleolithic industries from Mezmaiskaya cave (2001 excavation), Matuzka cave (2001, 2003, 2007, 2009 excavation), Baranaha-4 open-air site (1996 excavation), Hadjoh-2 workshop (2009 excavation). The paper introduces new data on raw material sourcing and petrography study.
