Abstract

Paper presents results of theoretical analysis of the concept of «event» as a cognitive element of subjective picture of life path. Purpose: to identify basic criteria for classification of events in a subjective picture of life. Methodology: the study is based on the causometric psycho-biography approach. Results: 1) seven criteria for the classification of life events revealed: origin, spheres of life, priority of spheres, role in life determination, temporal status, awareness and localization in subjective multi-layer picture of life, emotional tone and related psycho-biographic mental states; 2) the concept of «psycho-biographic mental states caused by significant events» introduced. Practical implications: psychological consultation and development of event-based diagnostic techniques.
