The attempt is made in the article to trace the evolution of the attitude to this personality through to the present time on the bases of his contemporaries opinions, expressed about Lomonosov immediately before and after his death. The narration is based on the well founded facts, pursuing the aim to present the genuine succession of events in order to show, why Lomonosov became Great in the eyes of the Russian people and to prove, that this greatness is ineradicable, it has passed through centuries, in centuries it will go.

В статье сделана попытка, отталкиваясь от мнений современников, высказанных о Ломоносове непосредственно до и после его кончины, проследить эволюцию отношения к этой личности вплоть до нынешнего времени. Изложение следует точно установленным фактам, преследуя цель представить реальное развитие событий, показать, почему же Ломоносов стал Великим в глазах русского народа и доказать, что это величие неистребимо, оно прошло через века, в века и уйдет.
