Abstract

The article considers a multi-aspect semiotic model of artistic communication, which includes, as its components, the author, the reader and the work of fiction. The ontological structure component of the work of fiction is subtext (implication), which is coded by the addresser with the help of certain devices and combinations of linguistic means regarded as signals of the author’s communicative strategy. Analysing the novel by E.M.Remarque «On the west with no news», as an example, the author studies a multilayer hierarchical system of contexts in which the inclusion of micro-contexts into the more extended contexts enriches, synthesizes implicit sense, and forms the deep content-and-concept information of the work of fiction under study.
