Abstract

The research is devoted to the oral tradition of a modern city and describes mechanisms of group identification in a youth subculture. The author researches "Us vs. Them" opposition in self-representation texts as exemplified by the role-play subculture. A central figure in such texts is a "mythologized roleplayer" whose fictional image is used to create folklore texts in this community.
