Abstract

The article reviews the main areas of researches dealing with psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. Predominantly negative consideration of the psychological trauma is traditional in psychology. Basing upon the cultural-activity methodology that interprets stress and trauma as a part of a wider phenomenon of extremeness in the meta-psychological and ontological paradigm, the author analyzes the modern model of psychological trauma developed by foreign psychologists. The paper reveals benefits of the positive approach to the psychological trauma. Development of the original model of psychological trauma is presented by the author.
