Abstract

The article studies the conceptual metaphor “the outside world is a miserable and hostile creature”, its meaning, manifestation and role in conveying the main idea of the fictional work. This concept is expressed by the means of extended metaphor on the example of the novels by the contemporary British writers.

В статье исследуется концептуальная метафора «окружающий мир - это несчастное и враждебное существо», ее значение, воплощение и роль в передаче основной идеи художественного произведения. Средством выражения данного концепта служит расширенная метафора на примере романов современных британских авторов.
