Abstract

The article proves the need to consider social functioning of art, as one of the elements of the cultural process of the 1970s – early 1980s. It is proposed to implement a single analysis of a theatrical and musical forms as well as other important functions including educational, informative and entertaining one. This approach favours the creation of a more objective picture of the state policy in the field of culture by example of Irkutsk theaters and Philharmonic.
