The fundamental problems of functioning of enterprises are considered in the article. The enterprises' functions in the social and economic spheres of a region are specified. The directions of development and reforming of enterprises are offered for the decision of the problems indicated in the article. The importance of development of the internal and external institutional environment is proved.

В статье рассматриваются основные проблемы функционирования предприятий. Определены функции, выполняемые предприятиями в обществе и в экономике региона. Предложены направления развития и реформирования предприятий для решения выявленных проблем. Обоснована важность развития внутренней и внешней институциональной среды.
