Abstract

This is an overview of conventional melanoma therapies and approaches under development that are based both on melanoma biochemical features and immunogenic capacity. The paper discusses tumor stem cells and tumor-initiating cells in immunodeficient mice, melanoma biochemical and functional heterogeneity and its role in systemic therapy of melanoma patients.
