Abstract

Phraseological derivation is a permanent characteristic of any language as its development and lexical enrichment. The study of phraseological derivation is an important factor for the understanding of phraseological language system dynamics. Phraseological derivation is based on the existing phraseological language system and any study in this field can be done only in correlation with initial derivative phraseological units. The present research is done on the basis of English. In the article, we analyze the ways of phraseological derivation of the idioms taken from the contemporary British literary text for teens. The results of our present research reveal the phraseological derivation tendencies of the contemporary English language system. Further study of phraseological derivation and derivatives is valuable in terms of compiling new lexis and phraseological dictionaries.
