Abstract

The article describes the peculiar and the regular features of speech and communicative development in infancy in terms of developmental psycholinguistics; it argues the necessity of considering infancy as a period of perceptive and initiative speech (rather than passive speech); it offers an "observation chart" to register child's speech functions development which makes it possible to find out the markers of typical (normal) and atypical (deviational) development.
