Abstract

The article develops a comparative study of the key Russian cultural concepts "homeland", "fatherland" and "motherland" (rodina, otechestvo, otchizna) which constitute a large conceptualized area «patria», and correlating concepts of American culture. The typological features of Russian and American cultures that caused the specificity of the conceptualized area and its verbalized linguistic means are explored. Reliance on the specificity of this linguistic world-image fragment is the basis of methods for teaching the national language-marked means.
