Abstract

The article is highlighting the problems of cooperation in scientific research amongKarelian, Kola and Komi Departments within the period of 1972-1985. The competition among the three departments commenced in 1972 laid down the basis for the institutions to their own internal development. Moreover this socialistic competition initiated intimate contacts among the researchers and led to new forms of collaboration such as cooperation and coordination of research. This, in its turn, stimulated tackling of some vital problems beyond the scope of regional research.
