The formation of religious conscience is conditioned by the interaction of natural and social aspects in the process of the development of society. The author of the paper investigates the influence of geopolitical factors on the genesis, evolution and distribution of religion. The influence of the geographical factor and of the territorial and political interests of different countries contributed to the appearance of religion to a large extent.
