The growth of the aviation sector worldwide poses new challenges for noise management and calls for new approaches to reduce noise impacts. Aircraft noise exposure can have adverse health effects and a significant negative impact on people’s quality of life (e.g. Schreckenberg et al., 2010). This relationship is often mediated by aircraft noise annoyance, which has been linked to the experience of stress (van Kamp, 1990).
