Abstract
<jats:p>A taxonomic description of all castes of <jats:italic>Colobopsisexplodens</jats:italic> Laciny &amp;amp; Zettel, <jats:bold>sp. n.</jats:bold> from Borneo, Thailand, and Malaysia is provided, which serves as a model species for biological studies on “exploding ants” in Southeast Asia. The new species is a member of the <jats:italic>Colobopsiscylindrica</jats:italic> (COCY) group and falls into a species complex that has been repeatedly summarized under the name <jats:italic>Colobopsissaundersi</jats:italic> (Emery, 1889) (formerly <jats:italic>Camponotussaundersi</jats:italic>).
