Abstract
Bachelor’s paper „Kansai Dialect in Japanese Popular Culture - Anime and Manga” is devoted to the analysis of the role which the Kansai dialect plays in anime and manga. This paper reflects stereotypes that are held by the modern Japanese society about Kansai dialect and its typical speaker. Characters in manga and anime are regarded as the manifestations of these stereotypes. The thesis is divided into four parts. First part provides the necessary theoretical basis for understanding the historical and social prerequisites for the origins of the stereotypes.
