II ABSTRACT Masters Thesis GROWTH, YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF MAIZE AS INFLUENCED BY ETHEPHON Aydın ALP Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Field Crops Supervisors Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. Yavuz EMEKLÎER 1993, 46 pages Jury î Prof. Dr. Temel GENCTAN Prof. Dr. M.Emin TUGAY This research was carried out in Application and Research Farm Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1991. In field trials in 1991, maize varieties of Mirco and Ordu yellow flint were sown at 66660 plants/ha, were applied (a) 0, (b) 350, (c> 450, (d) 550 g/ha growth regulators at various stages from the appearance of the 15 th leaf. Mean plant height for (a), (b), (c), and <d> was 191.6, 161.77, 147.73, and 131.68 cm; silking date for (a), (b), (c) and (d) was 64.2, 62.0, 61.0, and 59.0 days; the number of ear for (a), (b), (c) and (d) was 1.30, 1.13, 1.05 and 1.04; seed yield per plant for (a), (b), <c) and <d) was 138.13, 145.01, 142.16 and 138.88 g; harvest moisture content for (a), (b), CO and <d> was 18.47, 19.27, 18.50 and 17.24 '/.; and seed yield per unit area for (a), (b), (c) and (d) was 646.15, 631.00, 612.10, 575.85 kg/decare respectively.
